Therapeutic Approach

I believe the usefulness of therapy lies in the relationship the counselor and client create together. It is there that the client is able to safely explore the challenges of life. Within that relationship, personal strengths are cultivated, while weaknesses are identified and skills developed to inform how best to navigate through one’s life, fully.

I approach my practice from a perspective rooted in Mindfulness, Trauma Informed Care, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Social Justice. With a 20 year background in community organizing, my philosophy is based in the core value of empowerment.

My practice is in-network with Aetna and Blue Cross/Blue Shield.   I can accept out-of-network benefits and private pay.  I also offer a sliding scale and pro bono seats. I am committed to counseling being available to anyone who is seeking this kind of support.

I work with clients interested in developing a mindfulness practice. My clients have included individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, fear, confusion and, simply, curiosity.  I counsel clients within a unique collaborative setting. I counsel couples working to keep a relationship strong and those in the midst of separation/divorce. I also see students struggling under the pressures of academia.
